1. If I access digital over-the-air TV directly, are local channels free?
DTV does not cost money like cable or satellite TV does. For less than $20, you can purchase a receiver to watch television of DVD quality, 24 hours a day and free of charge. It is most cost effective.


2. In what areas is the new digital channel from MBC available?

MBC America’s digital channel, MBCD, began broadcasting in August of 2008 in the follow areas: Los Angeles - KSCI TV Channel 18.3 (www.kscitv.com), New York - WMBC TV Channel 63.3 (www.wmbctv.com) and Seattle KHCV Channel 44.4 (www.ktsktv.com). MBCD will be available for viewing in other areas such as Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco and Las Vegas. These channels can be viewed only through digital TVs or with the use of a set-top box (DTV receiver).


3. Can I buy a set-top box (DTV receiver) at any electronics store?

Yes, in most places. They can be purchased at such stores like Radio Shack, Best Buy, Walmart and Sam's Club.


4. Can I view digital channels with the UHF antenna I’m currently using?

Most digital channels are being broadcasted as substitutes for UHF. If your current antenna can access, UHF, it can also be used for digital television.


5. Which TV programs will include closed captioning in English?

All television dramas aired on MBCD will include closed captioning in English. Therefore, these shows will be readily available for those who are not fluent in Korean.


6. Can I watch digital television without canceling my subscription to cable or satellite TV?

Yes, you can. If you connect the Video/Audio output of the set-top box to the Video/Audio input of the TV with a composite cable, you can alternate between cable and digital television with the remote. 7. Can I still record programs with my VCR after installing the set-top box?

8. Can I request rebate coupons even though I have cable TV or satellite TV?

Yes, you can. Anyone currently residing in the US, regardless of your citizenship status, can request up to two coupons for each household. (https://www.dtv2009.gov/ApplyCoupon.aspx)


9. Can someone else request coupons on my behalf?

If you are physically unable to request yourself, or if you are not fluent in English, you can have a family member or close friend request coupons on your behalf. On the request form, your address, not your representative’s address, must be filled in.


10. I requested coupons, but am unable to purchase receivers online because I don’t have a credit card. Can I have a friend buy it for me instead, using the coupons?

Yes.


11. Is there an expiration date for the coupons?

The coupons must be used within 90 days of the issued date. The expiration date will be written on the coupons.
